Korbel Hotel

Korbel Hotel

Korbel is just a few miles from Blue Lake and is still home to an old Simpson Mill (now California Redwood Company) and a few homes.

Unfortunately,  this grand old hotel no longer exists.

One Response to Korbel Hotel

  1. Roy Chapman Richey says:

This was a real loss. This building and the “movie set” like western town site were there until about 1959 when Simpson demolished it to expand the lumber storage in front of the mill. Somewhat similar to what is left of Samoa today, the town was somewhat of a half circle with the mill on the north and the railroad along the base of the hill with the hotel out front close to the road, There was even an old art deco Texaco station at the road.
