I feel like I am missing the point…. Was it the daughter that died at 13 days of age, or that his whole fam (assumption, but at list 2 children and wife) died within 3 years? Either way… pretty much sucks. Think my headstone would be there fairly soon thereafter!
Actually, I just found the headstones compelling and tragic and figured the photo would tell different stories depending on who was looking–I just posted it to give perspective. Whenever we think our lives are bad…
I related to the unimaginable, crushing sorrow of a mother losing two young children.
You, to the man who lost two children and his wife…
I could not make out the death year of the wife–one needs only look through these old cemeteries to see what sorrow these people experienced. So many babies died, young children of infection or consumption–as did their mothers–or in childbirth.
My spouse and I stumbled over here from a different page and thought I should check things out.

Great to see you back in history mode Lynette! Is this Ross Rowley’s ancestors. His dad was a great historian, and he knows a lot too.
Old Man River…..No, that is not our ancestoral lineage. That name Rowlee appears throughout Humboldt cemeteries.
In the Fortuna Sunrise cemetery, the Rowlee plots are just a hop, skip and a jump from the Rowley plots. Close, like Smith and Smythe. But, not related. Confusing enough with there being two different Rowley and Rowley families in the area. One pronounced “Rowley” with a long “o” as in row, row, row your boat and “Rowley” like “cowley” That would be our lineage.
